538 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Gloucester County This Week

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — Gloucester County and New Jersey have seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county?

As of Friday, there have been 35,394 coronavirus cases and 696 coronavirus-related deaths in Gloucester County since the pandemic began in March 2020.

This is an increase of 538 cases and 18 deaths from last week, when there were 34,856 coronavirus cases and 678 coronavirus-related deaths in Gloucester County.

Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for more than 99 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four-weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health.

Gloucester County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest weekly report. The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses.

“Receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is an easy way to protect yourself against the virus and will protect those around you as well,” Gloucester County Commissioner Director Robert M. Damminger said. “Vaccines are available Tuesday through Friday at the Gloucester County Public Works Complex. No appointments are necessary.”

COVID-19 Vaccinations are readily available for all individuals living, working or studying in the State of New Jersey. Interested individuals can visit the Gloucester County Public Works Complex at 1200 N Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312. No appointments are necessary.

"Rapid testing is available by appointment at the Gloucester County Health Department. Please call 856-218-4142 to schedule Monday through Friday," Damminger said.

As of Friday, Gloucester County has conducted 246,925 total tests. Of these tests, 211,531 have come back negative.
