Here’s Why Leah Was Shouted Out As A West Deptford Star Student
Leah practices "being the best human being" by her actions every day and is a compassionate classmate and daughter, her nominator says.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?
This is my daughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Leah is a 10th grader at West Deptford High School. Leah is not only the best daughter she practices being the best human being in an every day routine. Leah is kind and loyal and dedicated to her school work as well as to her friends. If she is in class and sees someone not understanding a problem she does understand. Leah will go out of her way to help that student achieve their success. Leah also treats everyone the way she wants to be treated. Leah has helped take care of her Momom while she battled cancer and her power of living to get better and live your best life influenced her Mommom to fight through her cancer and get the treatments needed to put her in remission.
In 2019 Leah was recognized for J. Mason Tomlin School in Mantua Township as their January Gem Award. In which they wrote " I am proud to Name Leah as the recipient of the January Gem Award. She clearly demonstrates all of the character traits that have been our focus this year and everyday. Leah comes to school with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Leah should be proud of the young lady that she is. I know I am!"
Leah to this day demonstrates the qualities she was nominated in 2019. I am a single mother who works at night and my child makes sure she is up and ready for the school day. If I am behind or struggling with a bill that is due. Leah will volunteer to work or make money to help with the littlest amount to pay. It's just that mentality of making sure the next person learns and sees how to be the best human being in all aspects of life is why I nominate her as a Star Student.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
