Man Who Robbed Gas Station Caught In Gloucester Co.: Police

He was also wanted for questioning regarding several smash-and-grab thefts, authorities said.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man was arrested after authorities say he robbed a gas station Wednesday in Washington Township.

A Sunoco gas station was robbed on Wednesday morning, police said. After further investigation, officers identified John Lomonaco as the suspect.

Washington Township Police Ofc. Troy Lawless stopped Lomonaco's vehicle as the suspect traveled south on Route 42. Lomonaco admitted to the robbery and was taken into custody, police said.

Township police later found out that Lomonaco was wanted for questioning regarding several smash-and-grab thefts in Monroe Township. Lomonaco, 39, of Egg Harbor Township, was turned over to Monroe Township police and later jailed.

He was charged with robbery, burglary, theft and criminal mischief, according to jail records.
