Train, Car Collide On Highway In South Jersey

CARNEYS POINT, NJ — A train and a car collided Tuesday morning in Salem County, closing a portion of Route 130.

It happened around the 300 block of Route 130 — locally known as North Virginia Avenue — in Carneys Point, officials said at about 10 a.m. Tuesday.

There's a railroad crossing for freight trains in that area of the highway.

North Virginia Avenue will be closed until the investigation is completed, police said. There's a detour through North Broad Street.

The circumstances of the crash remain unclear, and there was no immediate word about any injuries. Patch contacted officials with questions and will update as more information becomes available.
