Two Arrested in West Deptford Burglary

Timothy J. Miller of Woodbury, and Tyler T. Murray of Washington Twp., allegedly made off with gaming consoles, jewelry and a computer that they tried to re-sell.

After a lengthy investigation, West Deptford police have arrested two Gloucester County men for the July 9 burglary of a Lawnton Avenue home.

Timothy J. Miller, 21, of Woodbury, and Tyler T. Murray, 22, of Washington Twp., were charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Police say the two men forced open the rear window of the home, taking a quantity of jewelry and some electronics, including an iMac with external hard drive, Nintendo Wii and an Xbox gaming console. Total value ascribed to the stolen items was $7,500, police said.

Because the victim was able to supply serial numbers for the items—a rare bit of forward-thinking in cases like these—West Deptford investigators were able to track them. Some had been posted for sale on Craigslist.

Through further investigation, police arrested Miller, who confessed to the burglary while in police custody as well as implicating Murray in the incident.

Miller told police that he'd sold the jewelry and iMac at various locations throughout South Jersey and Philadelphia. Although they were not able to be recovered, police did receive consent to search his home, where they found the hard drive and the gaming consoles.

Miller, who confessed to committing burglaries in Woodbury as well, was charged and released. Murray, who was arrested July 30, was remanded to the Gloucester County jail on default of $50,000, full-cash bail.
