Black Bear Sighted In Westfield Thursday Morning, Police Say
An adult black bear was spotted walking through residents' backyards early Thursday morning, according to Westfield Police.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A black bear was sighted in the area of the 200 block of East Dudley Avenue in Westfield Thursday morning, according to an alert from Westfield Police.
Police said the bear has not approached any individuals and was "simply spotted walking through backyards," as of 7:34 a.m. If residents observe the bear, police say to not approach it.
The bear is described as an adult, healthy black bear. Westfield Police recommends keeping pets inside while they continue to monitor the area.

Michael Walsh of Westfield Police said they are unable to locate the bear as of 1:11 p.m.
