Congregation Beth Israel to Host Community Holocaust Commemoration

Community Holocaust Commemoration Will Feature Film Starring Tovah Feldshuh

Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scotch Plains will host a community commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, known as Yom HaShoah in Hebrew, on Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m. The program is a partnership of CBI’s Second/Third Generation Holocaust Survivors Group, the JCC of Central NJ, and 3GNJ. The program, which is free and open to the community, will feature the short film Malka, starring Tovah Feldshuh.

The Yom HaShoah program will present New Jersey’s premiere screening of the film, Malka. It will also include a memorial candle lighting ceremony.

The film follows the true story of Malka, a Holocaust survivor, who starts to see visions of her life at the concentration camps during a present-day family Seder.
