Le Bain Storefront Gets Façade Renovation

It will be the most historic renovation in 2013, according to the DWC.

Le Bain Boutique, located at 17 Elm Street, is undergoing a complete façade renovation to expose some of the original glass panels and Luxfer tiles.

Owners Aimee Raoul and Tommy Castronova discovered that behind the façade, the original transform glass panels with Luxfer tiles were still there. The owners and design committee are working to restore the metal frame, replace the transoms with Luxfer prismatic glass tiles to match the original and add a water jet cut Le Bein logo.

Sherry Cronin, Director of the Downtown Westfield Corporation, said owners Raoul and Castronova have really done a wonderful job with the project, as well as their previous restoration of the interior of the boutique.

“It’s really starting to look great,” she said. “This storefront will be our most significant historic restoration in 2013 when it is completed.”

Castronova explained that renovation has been a community project. He said they have been working with the Downtown Westfield Corporation and Westfield Historical Society to pool ideas.

“We want to work with the town,” he said. “We’re trying to bring the historical aspect to life.”

The original façade was still useable behind the current façade except for a few glass tiles that the owners ordered from EBay as replacements, Castronova said. Raoul and Castronova are also keeping the look antique by using an antique looking sign that will be lit from behind the glass.

The tin ceiling and hardwood floors within the store are both originals.

Le Bain Boutique sells all-natural and non-harmful bath, body and home products.
