Westfield To Celebrate America's 250th Birthday With 2026 Slate Of Events
The first of a series of activities will take place in January.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield is joining in on the 250th birthday celebrations for the United States in the months leading up to July 4, 2026.
The Town is holding its first in a string of heritage, educational, artistic, and recreational events in January.

On New Year's Day, the sites of Westfield will be showcased in the "First Day Guided Walking Tour" of the Charles Addams Heritage Trail. The one-and-a-half-mile-long route pays homage to famed cartoonist and creator of "The Addams Family, Charles Addams, and his Westfield roots.
The journey includes stops at his childhood home and areas that influenced his work.

Addams was born on Jan. 12, 1912 at 511 Summit Ave. and later moved to 522 Elm St. He lived on Elm Street until he graduated from Westfield High School in 1929.

Admission is free, but participants on the tour must be registered. The walk will last approximately two hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A self-guided tour is also available for those who can't make it to the scheduled event.
LEGO Westfield
Families are invited to build their own Westfield buildings together out of LEGO bricks on Jan. 24, 2026.
More than 50 buildings and structures around Town will be able to be reconstructed in miniature form from 60,000 bricks.
Families can then arrange their creations on a giant Westfield floor map. Every group will get an "Architectural Treasure Map" at the end of the event to go out together and enjoy the actual sites on their own.
Along with special Independence Hall and Mount Vernon templates, George Washington will also be making an appearance.
A fee of $45 is required for each group or family of up to four participants who are Westfield residents. Non-residents can sign up for $55 per group.
Kids must be at least six years old, and at least one adult who is 21 must be present.
The LEGO build will be from 1 to 3 p.m. in the B Cafeteria of Westfield High School.
