Soderbergh's New Horror Movie Filmed Inside Union County Home: Watch The Teaser

CRANFORD, NJ — A home in Cranford is the spooky setting for Steven Soderbergh's newest film "Presence."(See the trailer below)

The horror thriller movie, which dropped its trailer on Wednesday, was filmed entirely in the home off Springfield Avenue from the first-person perspective of a creepy mysterious entity.

The film was shot last September, confirmed Joe Marra with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.

"And the total in-state spend for the production was just over $2 million," said Marra.

The spooky trailer is less than a minute long with the camera eerily panning from the outside of the home to the inside from the perspective of something that is already inside.

"A family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they’re not alone," is the tagline for the film.

Producer and Director Soderbergh — known for his work "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," Erin Brockovich," "Traffic" — teamed up with award-winning writer David Koepp know for his work with "Jurassic Park" and "Mission Impossible.

The cast includes well-known stars such as Lucy Liu(Charlie's Angels), Chris Sullivan(This Is Us), Callina Liang, Julia Fox, Eddy Maday, and West Mulholland.

The film made its depute at the Sundance Film Festival this past January. This is Soderbergh's first time returning to the festival since 1989.

Presence is "a film shot entirely in one location that will haunt audiences with its otherworldly story and constantly awe-inspiring visuals. Working from a taut, mysterious script by David Koepp and featuring an exciting cast of known actors and newcomers, Presence is a thrilling cinematic ride that reifies Soderbergh’s status as an icon of American independent film," according to the Sundance Film Festival.

Presence is set to be released in theaters in January 2025.
