Westfield High School Graduate Dies While On College Spring Break

The 2021 high school graduate died while on spring break from Ohio State University, where he was studying finance and playing soccer.

WESTFIELD, NJ - Westfield High School graduate Henry Meacock died while on spring break from Ohio State University, university officials confirmed last week.

"The Ohio State community has suffered a tragic loss, and we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Henry Meacock," the university said in a statement to the Columbus Dispatch. "Our hearts go out to his family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time."

It was not immediately clear if a cause of death has been determined, or if he was in Ohio or New Jersey when he died.

Meacock, who was studying finance at OSU, previously worked at Echo Lake Country Club as a golf caddy, according to his LinkedIn page. He also played soccer throughout his time at Westfield High School, a career that he continued in college. He was slated to graduate from OSU in 2025.

“Soccer has allowed me to learn how to work with teammates and coaches and how to put the group ahead of the individual,” Meacock wrote in his LinkedIn profile.

“Our soccer family is heartbroken over this awful news,” the Westfield Blue Devils wrote in an Instagram post. “Please keep the Meacock family in your prayers … We send our love and heartfelt condolences @henrymeacock3.”
