Several Westfield police officers were honored for providing a lifesaving dose of Narcan to an overdose victim in a local hotel this weekend
WESTFIELD, NJ - Several Westfield police officers were recently honored as heroes after administering a lifesaving dose of Narcan to an overdose victim in a local hotel room, according to a statement from the police department.
The overdose incident was reported at a North Avenue Best Western hotel on Sunday at around 1:14 a.m., police said.
At the scene, Sergeant Nicholas Bruno discovered a 52-year-old man from Newark lying unresponsive in bed in a second-floor hotel room, police said. After determining that the victim was also not breathing and had no detectable pulse, Bruno then transferred the man to the floor to begin CPR, police said.
