WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield made it into the top 7 percent of ranked small cities in America, according to a recent report published by WalletHub.
WalletHub compared more than 1,300 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 43 key indicators of livability. They range from housing costs and school-system quality to restaurants per capita.
Westfield ranked 132nd in housing costs — according to Redfin, the average sale price for a home in Westfield is $840,000. WalletHub ranked the town 106th in homeownership rate and 2019 census data says the town has a homeownership rate of 82 percent. Westfield came in 35th on WalletHub's list for the percent of the population in poverty —census data says 3.5 percent of Westfield's population experiences poverty.
