Westfield Teen Killed In Crash Leaves Behind Legacy Of Kindness, Friendship, Dedication
A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up for Brandon Genlot's family after he died in a car crash in the Watchung Reservation on Monday night.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A fundraiser has been set up for the family of Westfield High School senior Brandon Genlot, who died in a car crash in the Watchung Reservation on Monday night.
"Brandon left his family and friends far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, and dedication. Brandon was a cherished son, brother, grandson, cousin and friend, and senior at Westfield High School," according to the GoFundMe set up by friends of the Genlot family.
In less than 12 hours, the fundraiser exceeded its goal raising close to $31,000.

"In honor of Brandon’s memory and to help support his family during this difficult time, any donation would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to his family to help with memorial costs," according to the GoFundMe.
A memorial service to honor Brandon’s life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Higgins and Bonner, 582 Springfield Avenue, Westfield.

Obituary
Brandon was an accomplished volleyball player who played for Westfield High School and his club team the Warren Sixpacks.
"Brandon loved playing volleyball! He played with athletic skill, intensity, heart, and sportsmanship. His teammates and coaches will remember him not only as a talented player but as a positive spirit to everyone around him," according to his Higgins and Bonner obituary.
Additionally, Brandon was an accomplished student who was recognized on the honor roll numerous times and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society and received a certificate of achievement for fluency in Mandarin.
Brandon planned to attend college to pursue studies in Astrophysics.
"Brandon was a role model, a devoted friend, a supportive classmate, and a young man who brought warmth and humor to those who knew him. His laughter, quick smile, and gentle, compassionate nature will be dearly missed," according to the obituary.
Brandon is survived by his loving parents, Donna and Jeff whose support and encouragement meant everything to him; his brother, Daniel, and sister, Kayla, both of whom he adored and shared countless memories with; his beloved grandmother Ann, cousins James ( wife Haylie), John and Faith, aunts Jen, Tracey and Kim and uncles David, John.
"Brandon’s family was his anchor and he cherished each one of them deeply," according to the obituary. "As we say goodbye to a remarkable young man, we celebrate the beautiful life he lived.
His legacy will endure in the memories of his family, friends, and the Westfield community.
Brandon will forever be remembered for his vibrant spirit, his kind heart, and his humor."
Crash
The fatal crash was reported on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Watchung Reservation on Sky Top Drive in Scotch Plains. Read More: Westfield High School Senior Dies In Car Crash In Watchung Reservation
Union County Police Officers found one vehicle and the surrounding area on fire, said Union County Officer in Charge Captain John DaSilva.
Scotch Plains Fire Department extinguished the fire.
An investigation found that the vehicle had hit a tree and caught fire, said DaSilva.
One person was found dead inside the vehicle. The victim was later identified as Genlot.
The accident is under investigation by the Union County Police Department.
