WESTFIELD, NJ — After two years of opening on and off during the pandemic, Westfield's Fare + Fettle will officially reopen for dine-in, according to a recent announcement.

The gluten and dairy free restaurant experienced various staffing and financial issues throughout the pandemic, but the café will now return just in time for its five year anniversary.

"In March 2020, we had no idea how much things would change," the restaurant wrote in Facebook post. "It’s been rough, but we are happy and proud to have made it through. This Fettle will be the best Fettle ever."

The restaurant is known for its soups and bone broths — 100 percent gluten and dairy free.

This past January, owner Amanda Vargas started a GoFundMe page while she was battling COVID and could not keep the restaurant open. Having COVID was especially difficult for Vargas, as she suffers from Multiple Sclerosis — a degenerative neurological disease. She is also legally blind and only has about 10% of her vision left.

The GoFundMe raised over $20,000, which went toward paying for various business expenses.

According to the recent announcement, Fettle will offer both indoor and outdoor dining and BYO.

Vargas said she expects to open up for dine-in on May 9.
