13 From IHA Named National Merit Commended Students

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Thirteen students at Immaculate Heart Academy have been named National Merit Commended Students, according to the school.

The recognized students are:

  • Isabella DeCurtis’20 of Wyckoff
  • Maryannette Diaz’20 of Hewitt
  • Hannah Gurney’20 of North Haledon
  • Angeline Jacob’20 of New City, NY
  • Yoona Kim’20 of Fair Lawn
  • Emma Kramer’20 of Glen Rock
  • Emma Matesic’20 of Westwood
  • Juliana Najjar’20 of Wayne
  • Jessica O’Neill’20 of Oradell
  • Emma Patton’20 of Wyckoff
  • Gabrielle Peko’20 of Mahwah
  • Sophia Ruggier’20 of Lyndhurst
  • Elise Vergos’20 of Midland Park.

High school students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test —which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants each year.

In September 2018, about 34,000 of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the tests received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

Commended Students are awarded on the basis of a national Selection Index qualifying score, which varies from year to year. The national qualifying score for Commended Students in the 2020 program was 212.
