Downed Utility Poles, Power Outages Plague Bergen Co. After Storm

A downed pole in Hillsdale cut power to dozens of people. Hundreds more are without power in the northwestern part of the county.

Hundreds of Bergen County residents were without power Thursday morning due to remnants of Hurricane Barry sweeping through North Jersey.

A downed utility pole in Hillsdale cut power to dozens of PSE&G customers. Of the more than 100 customers without power, 40 are in Hillsdale. Power is expected to be restored there between 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., PSE&G estimates.

Power outages were also reported in Bergenfield, Leonia, Fair Lawn, Fairview, River Edge, Tenafly, and Wyckoff.

Orange & Rockland reported dozens of Bergen customers without power, mostly in Oakland and Ramsey. It is estimated they will get power back between 11:30 a.m. and noon, the utility said.

The National Weather Service is forecasting possible thunderstorms after 10 a.m. with a high of 86. Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rain could fall, possibly more if it thunderstorms.
