Washington Twp. Golden Seniors President Steps Down

The club for seniors in Washington Township elected a new group of officers last month.

After serving six two-year terms as the president of The Golden Seniors of the Township of Washington, Kay Coppola has decided to call it a day. The popular, longest tenured leader of the organization was very proud of “her seniors” for whom she worked very hard. During her 12 years in office Kay was a hands-on leader who was personally involved in the many activities of the group, which is comprised of Washington Township residents.

She presided over all but a few of the Business and Social Meetings held every second and fourth Wednesday. She and her fellow officers ran the organization with efficiency and enthusiasm and on a sound financial footing.

On the bus trips to Atlantic City and other destinations that left from the parking lot of Our lady of Good Counsel Church, Kay was always at the head of the line greeting everyone with a pleasant smile and an occasional kiss.

Among the highlights of the year were the annual celebrations at Seasons for St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas, which were organized by Kay and her team.

At Township functions like the Town Picnic, Kay was always rallying “her seniors” to volunteer their services.

Kay was dedicated to the Scholarship Fund that raises money for two $1,000 scholarships for worthy Township senior high school students.

The newly elected officers are Frank Pagano, President, Ralph Pirritano, Vice President, Jack Kenney, Treasurer, Kitty McRae, Recording Secretary, and Fran Karabin, Corresponding Secretary. At the January 9 Business Meeting the new officers were installed by now Past President, Kay Coppola.
