Westwood Schools Earn Sustainable Jersey Certification
Westwood Regional schools have been recognized for its efforts to initiate green-minded, eco-friendly programs in the classroom.
WESTWOOD, NJ – Westwood Regional schools have been recognized for its efforts to initiate green-minded, eco-friendly programs in the classroom.
Berkeley Avenue Elementary School, Brookside Elementary School, Jessie F. George Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Westwood Regional Junior/Senior High School and Westwood Regional Middle School all earned Bronze certification status through Sustainable Jersey for Schools.
Altogether, a total of 108 schools were certified this year, a figure that includes 44 newly certified bronze schools, 54 recertified bronze schools, three recertified silver schools and seven schools that moved up from bronze to silver, according to Sustainable Jersey.

Launched in 2008, Sustainable Jersey aims to encourage districts initiate more green programs and activities.
It also helps districts make more progress toward their Sustainable Jersey certification. Through the certification program, municipalities and schools are provided training, tools and funding as they pursue sustainability programs.

To date, $1.7 million has been given to the 840 schools and 325 districts in New Jersey that are participating in the program.
Within the Pascack Valley, Montvale School District, Hillsdale School District and Pascack Valley Regional High School District are participating in Sustainable Jersey for Schools.
