2 Men Tried To Break Into Broadway Avenue Home In Colonia

This is the second time in less than a week a home on Broadway in Colonia was targeted for car theft.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Two men tried to break into a home in Colonia over the weekend, according to Woodbridge Police.

Police say this happened at a home on Broadway Avenue in Colonia. At 3 a.m. Saturday, the homeowner said two men tried to get inside through a window, which goes into the interior of his home.

The homeowner, who remained anonymous, told News 12 his barking dog scared the men off. He said he later watched what happened on his home security camera: The two men tried to pry open his window to get inside. Both were carrying a crow bar.

News 12 has video of the two men prowling outside the home.

The homeowner said he believes the men were looking to steal his $100,000 BMW.

Woodbridge Police said car thieves have have been targeting homes in Colonia, Fords and Menlo Park.

The homeowner told News 12 he now wants to get rid of his BMW.

"I want to get rid of my fancy car," he told the TV news station. "I don’t need to be a target. We are hardworking people. Why do I need to be a target?"
