Saint Gertrude Cemetery In Colonia Hosts Memorial Day Outdoor Mass

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Saint Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia will host a special Memorial Day service on May 27 for fallen American soldiers.

The special Mass will be hosted by the Archdiocese of Newark. They will hold similar services at Catholic cemeteries across New Jersey on Memorial Day Monday, May 27.

The service will be at 11 a.m. 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067 The Mass will be held outdoors under large canopy tents, with seating provided.

All are welcome to remember and honor the men and women killed serving the United States of America.

These services are called “Serving God and Country: A Memorial Day Salute to Our Heroes.” This national program, developed by the Catholic Cemetery Conference, honors men and women who died serving in the armed forces while recognizing both active-duty military and veterans.

• Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ – Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, C.Ss.R., D.D.
• Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ – Most Reverend Manuel A. Cruz, D.D.
• Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ – Most Reverend Michael A. Saporito, D.D.
• Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ – Most Reverend Elias R. Lorenzo, O.S.B., D.D.
• Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ – Most Reverend Gregory J. Studerus, D.D.
• Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ – Very Reverend John J. Chadwick, S.T.D.
• Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange, NJ – Reverend Philip J. Waters, O.S.B.

Memorial Day Masses at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover and Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah will be held inside their mausoleums. All the other masses will be held outdoors.

Cardinal Joseph Tobin, Archbishop of Newark, will be at the main celebrant Mass at North Arlington’s Holy Cross Cemetery.
