Route 37 Sinkhole Prompts Emergency Road Work In Toms River

A sinkhole on Route 37 has prompted commuting delays Monday morning, authorities said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A sinkhole on Route 37 in Toms River has closed two lanes Monday morning, prompting widespread commuting delays, authorities said.

Toms River police said there are lane closures on Route 37 westbound and on Oak Ridge Parkway.

Lakehurst Road also is affected, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Two left lanes are closed on Route 37. There is a 10- to 15-minute delay, the NJDOT said.
