New Details In Carteret Shooting Of 2 Women, 1 Killed
Patch obtained new details in the case of a Washington man who shot two women in Carteret Wednesday morning, killing one:

CARTERET, NJ — Patch obtained new details in the case of a Washington man who shot two women in Carteret Wednesday morning, killing one and leaving the other in critical condition in University Hospital in Newark.
Gaurav Gill, 20, of Kent, WA is currently in police custody, and is charged with first-degree murder, among other charges.
Police say he shot the two women, both local to Carteret, at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Roosevelt Avenue: Upon arrival, police found the two women and they were airlifted to separate hospitals in critical condition.

One woman, Jasvir Kaur, 29, of Carteret, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other, a 20-year-old woman from Carteret, name not disclosed, remains critical.
According to a criminal complaint against Gill, police say he fired the gun at the first woman, Kaur, multiple times, killing her. A video obtained by police from the shooting scene showed him "racking" the gun, preparing to shoot the women.

Police say he fired the gun at the second woman just once. Her injuries are described as "life threatening."
Surveillance video showed him fleeing the scene of the shooting, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and white sneakers.
There was a massive police manhunt for Gill, and he was seen in multiple Carteret backyards Wednesday night as police searched for him. He was arrested Wednesday evening in one of those backyards. When he was found, he had a Smith & Wesson 9MM in his waistband and an extended magazine in his front pocket.
Police have not released a motive as to why he allegedly shot the two women.
Gill is charged with:
- One count of first-degree murder
- One count of first-degree attempted murder
- Four illegal gun charges
