Woodbridge Storage Employee's Leg Rescued After Workplace Accident

Crews used power saws and hand tools to remove the worker's leg stuck in a concrete floor at a St. Georges Avenue business, officials said.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - Rescue crews used power saws and hand tools on Wednesday to remove a Woodbridge storage facility employee’s leg that became trapped through flooring after a workplace accident, officials said.

Members of the Avenel Fire Department responded to a report of an employee needing extrication from a concrete floor following an accident at Treasure Island Self Storage Facility on St. Georges Avenue, Avenuel fire officials said in a statement.

Special requests for Perth Amboy and Colonia’s technical rescue teams were made, “bringing additional resources to the scene for assistance,” officials said.

Crews then used power saws and hand tools to remove the employee’s leg, which was stuck in the concrete floor, officials said. The employee was safely removed; he was then transported to a nearby hospital.

“A great team effort by all agencies on scene to safely remove the patient including Hackensack Meridian Medics, Township OEM and mutual aid coordinators,” officials said.
