Arbor Day Comes Early in Wyckoff
Trees planted along Main Street; township celebration planned for Saturday
Main Street got a bit greener this afternoon, as crews planted trees in advance of Arbor Day.
The Wyckoff Avenue/Main Street intersection was blocked to motorists as Department of Public Works personnel planted trees along the sidewalk and center island after removing four dying trees earlier in the day. Across the street, in front of the Wyckoff Auto Center, workers from Severino Construction were installing new pavers and prepping the area for the planting of four more trees.
The initiative is part of the Shade Tree Commission's effort to plant trees along the "front door" of Wyckoff, in reference to the main approaches into the township.

Today's work acts as a preview of the township's Arbor Day celebration, planned for Saturday, when local officials will mark its status as a Tree City USA with activities at Zabriskie Pond. Residents are invited to join township representatives at the Wyckoff Avenue/Main Street intersection at 9 a.m., with a procession to follow down to Zabriskie. There, three donated willow trees will be planted, and educational literature will be available to residents.
