Barneys New York Coming To American Dream Meadowlands

The luxury retailer will be in The Collections section of the $5B mega-mall. It will include Barneys iconic restaurant Freds at Barneys.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Barneys New York will open a flagship store at American Dream Meadowlands, the companies announced.

The 50,000 square-foot, two-level store will be in The Collections, American Dream's luxury shopping section located at one end of the 3 million square-foot shopping and entertainment destination.

"We are thrilled to open our newest Barney's New York location at American Dream, a truly one-of-a-kind experiential retail environment," said Daneilla Vitale, CEO and president of Barney's New York. "Barney's New York at American Dream will be a creative destination for modern luxury, entertainment, and food."

Vitale said Barney's will provide American Dream guests with a "singular experience."

The store will feature Fred's at Barneys, the brand's famous restaurant. It will serve Italian-inspired and modern American cuisine and designer burgers. It will be located on the restaurant's second level and feature patio seating.

"Barneys New York is iconic and a prime example of a brand and defines and embodies the true spirit of The Collections," said Don Ghermezian, American Dream's president. "Barney's New York has always been at the forefront of fashion, offering their customers an unparalleled assortment of exclusive brands from around the globe."

American Dream was slated to open in March. However, Gov. Phil Murphy Friday said the opening has been pushed back to late spring. (See related: American Dream Meadowlands Opening Date Pushed Back, Gov. Says)

Between 30 and 40 million people are expected to visit American Dream within its first year of opening. Many of those figure to be New York City tourists.

American Dream will be 55 percent entertainment space and 45 percent retail. The entertainment portion will include a Nickelodeon Universe theme park, and a DreamWorks-themed water park.
