Bergen Juvenile Had 1,400 Child Porn Files: Prosecutor

A Bergen County juvenile who had about 1,400 files of child pornography was arrested recently, authorities announced.

The juvenile, who was unnamed because of his or her age, was arrested and taken into protective custody Friday, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the juvenile's home Friday in connection with an internet child pornography investigation, Calo said. Authorities did not provide the juvenile's hometown.

The juvenile used two electronic devices to view and keep about 1,400 digital files depicting nude and sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children as young as 3 years old, Calo said.

The juvenile was charged with possession of child pornography in an amount greater than 1,000 files, Calo said. They were released to the custody of a guardian. They are scheduled to appear in Bergen County Family Court in Hackensack.
