Equipment Stolen from Bourbon BBQ

Items worth $5,500 taken from rear of restaurant

Several thousand dollars worth of equipment was recently stolen from the temporarily closed Bourbon BBQ at 529 Goffle Road.

The restaurant's owners told police on June 5 that several pieces of equipment worth approximately $5,500 were stolen from the rear of the eatery, which has been closed since late February after a fire.

Police said two large warming cabinets, an oil filtration system and a steamer had been removed from the interior and temporarily placed behind the building, where they were stolen sometime from June 2 to June 5.

The three-year-old business has been shuttered since a fire in the kitchen caused enough damage to shut down the restaurant for months. Although firefighters quickly knocked down the early-morning blaze, smoke damage impacted the interior of the restaurant, leading the owners, Mike and Helen Feygin, to launch restoration efforts.

The Feygins could not be reached for further comment.
