Letter to the Editor: Write In Sobin for School Board

Financial analyst would make decisions in 'best interest of the community'

To the Editor:

I would be honored to serve as one of the members of the Wyckoff school board through the write-in process along with the current members and two soon to be elected candidates.

I have been a resident of Wyckoff since 1996 with my husband and two daughters.  Our children attended Washington School, Eisenhower and Ramapo High School, where our daughter, Alexandra, is currently a sophomore. Our daughter, Lauren, is currently attending Loyola University in Maryland.

I have volunteered in recreation programs, school functions and civic organizations and have experience interacting with a broad array of citizens in Wyckoff. I believe that I can serve Wyckoff schools with a fair and balanced perspective with recent experience in the Wyckoff school system.

Our family has been an active supporter of Wyckoff public schools, and we have a firm belief that the school system is a vital core to the Wyckoff community. I wish to take a more active role in the school system and contribute to keeping our schools as strong as they are today, participate in improving where we can, and help lead Wyckoff schools through a very challenging environment.

I believe that my career as a financial analyst gives me the depth of knowledge to understand the budgeting process and financial management in a challenging fiscal environment. My skills will enable me to serve the district and work with all constituents to review, monitor and make fair, balanced and open decisions in the best interest of the community.

On April 20, we as citizens have the obligation and right to vote on the school budget and candidates for our local school board. Please cast a vote by writing in your personal choice candidate for the third board position on Tuesday, April 20. Polls are open from 2 to 9 p.m. at regular polling locations.
