Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Bergen County Restaurant Stabbing: Prosecutor

A man has been charged with attempted murder in a stabbing at an Italian restaurant in Bergen County.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — An Oakland man has been charged with attempted murder and weapons offenses after a stabbing last Thursday at a restaurant in that town.

Jose Higinio Ramos Solis, 34, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree attempted murder.

Prosecutors said that on Thursday at 2:56 p.m., the Oakland Police Department responded to a stabbing at 455 Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland, the address of Cafe L'Amore, an Italian restaurant.

Police found a 53-year-old man stabbed. The assailant had fled, they said.

Solis was caught a short distance from the scene, prosecutors said.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

An investigation determined that Solis approached the victim inside the restaurant and stabbed him "using a large knife," prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await his first court appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
