WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff-based dad Mike Rohner, who grew up in River Edge, didn't focus on his art until well after he took his first painting class in college. Now he's gaining exposure and awards for his realistic street scenes.

His first solo show, "The Streets of New York," kicked off with a reception on Jan. 11. His oil paintings will remain on display at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center through Jan. 30.

The show features large and small scale paintings of New York City scenes, completed at Rohner's studio in Wyckoff and outdoors.
