On a perfect day for a ballgame, the township's recreation baseball and softball teams officially kicked off their season Saturday with a parade and banner ceremony.
Children of all ages paraded from Memorial Field to Wyckoff Community Park, proudly displaying their team colors and banners. While pint-sized Yankees may have competed with tiny Orioles for attention and applause, there was no rivalry on display as hundreds came out to support the township's recreation programs.
Township Committee and Recreation representatives were on hand for the ceremonial first pitch at Wyckoff Community Park followed by the traditional banner ceremony. Although teams were recognized by age group for their elaborately decorated banners, everyone was a winner on the beautiful opening day.
