Ramapo HS Boys Varsity Soccer Team Named Bergen County Champions

The team was congratulated at Monday's Township Committee meeting.

The 2014 Ramapo High School Boys Varsity Soccer team was honored at the Wyckoff Township Committee’s meeting on Monday for being named the 2014 Bergen County Soccer Tournament Champions after their 2-1 victory over Northern Highlands High School on Oct. 31, making it the tenth time the Ramapo High School Boys Soccer team has been crowned Bergen County Champions.

The Ramapo High School Varsity Soccer team faced the top three seeds during the playoff bracket, first defeating Tenafly High School 1-0 in the quarterfinal on Oct. 14, defeating #2 seed Don Bosco High School 3-2 on Oct. 21 and defeating Northern Highlands in the championship.

The team was also ranked #1 in the Group 3-4 boys soccer team by the Bergen County Coaches Association, the third ranked overall team in North Jersey by “The Bergen Record” and received the 2014 Fall Soccer Sportsmanship Award by the Bergen County Soccer Officials Association.

For their overall record of 14 wins, 2 ties and 3 loses, coming in second place in the Big North Freedom Division and being ranked 14 in the state by ”The Star-Ledger,” the Ramapo High School Boys Varsity Soccer team and their coaches received recognition by Wyckoff Mayor Douglas J. Christie and the rest of the Township Committee board members.
