Wyckoff Bomb Threat Part Of Hoax: Police

The threat was emailed and believed to be part of a nationwide hoax, authorities said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Bomb threats were made against a Main Street business on email Thursday that appear to be connected to similar incidents nationwide.

Police were informed of the threat at 1:40 p.m.; the building and several nearby businesses were evacuated and local roads were closed, said Lt. Joseph Soto.

A K-9 unit from the Bergen County Sheriff's Office responded and checked the building for explosives; none were found, Soto said.

Detectives are investigating the threat's origin.

Similar threats were made to two Fair Lawn middle schools, which were evacuated. (See related: Fair Lawn Middle Schools Evacuated Following Bomb Threats: Police)

Other bomb threats were made across the country Thursday, including in several cities and at universities. In Connecticut, several schools and businesses were targeted.

In Massachusetts, State Police were responding to a series of bomb threats that were sent by email to businesses.

Bomb threats were also reported in New York City, Chicago and beyond.
