Wyckoff Office of Emergency Management Sends Reminder to Residents During Blizzard Warning
The alert provides residents with tips and numbers to call in case of a power outage and/or emergency.

Wyckoff’s Office of Emergency Management has sent out reminders to residents during the Blizzard Warning.
The alert states the following:
If you experience a power outage, please report the power outage to Orange & Rockland Electric: 877-434-4100 and/or Public Service Electric & Gas 800-436-7734

- Check your family’s emergency supply kit; make certain you have food, water, medications, fuel for generators and other necessities to sustain you, your family and family pets for at least 72 hours.
- Keep up to date with local conditions – follow TV and radio reports from your area, or visit www.weather.gov(http://mobile.weather.gov on your phone) for the latest forecast.
- The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department reminds residents with a fire hydrant in front of their home, that it is their responsibility to remove snow and ice from around the hydrant.
- Neighbors helping Neighbors – please check on your elderly neighbors and lend assistance.
According to the alert, the Blizzard Warning is in effect from 12 p.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Tuesday and will cause “extremely dangerous travel due to heavy snowfall and strong winds, resulting in whiteout conditions.” Secondary and tertiary roads may also become impassable and strong winds may down power lines and tree limbs.
Furthermore, the alert suggest residents do not travel but should have a winter survival kit and a fully charged cellphone if they must travel. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
