Discovery of nearly three pounds of meth on I-87 leads to arrests of two men and teen (cbs6albany.com) — State Police say a Thruway traffic stop near Bethlehem uncovered nearly three pounds of suspected meth, with the suspects processed at State Police Albany and held at the Albany County jail. Two Schenectady men now face serious felony drug charges, while a 17-year-old was released with an appearance ticket to Albany County Youth Part Court.
   

2. Major Robert J. McConnell Jr. appointed Troop G Commander (cbs6albany.com) — A longtime Albany County resident has been promoted to lead New York State Police Troop G, which covers Albany and nine other counties. Major Robert J. McConnell Jr. says he’s focused on working with local partners to keep communities safe for families across the Capital Region.
   

3. NY Can Keep Giving Licenses To Undocumented Immigrants, Judge Rules Against Trump Admin (dailyvoice.com) — An Albany-based federal judge has upheld New York’s Green Light Law, meaning undocumented immigrants can continue getting state driver’s licenses and the DMV can limit data sharing with immigration authorities. For Albany residents, the ruling keeps current licensing rules in place and clarifies that New York isn’t required to assist federal immigration enforcement beyond sharing basic status information.
   

4. Kratom legislation approved in Albany (midhudsonnews.com) — State lawmakers in Albany have approved new restrictions on kratom, including warning labels, marketing limits, and a ban on sales to anyone under 21. The changes, backed by Senator James Skoufis, aim to address safety concerns while broader bans are still being debated.
