Car-Share Program Expands To Astoria, LIC, Grabs 19 Parking Spots
The parking spots were revealed in a letter sent by the Department of Transportation on Wednesday.
QUEENS — More than a dozen parking spots in Queens will be handed over to private car-share companies as the city expands its short-term vehicle rental program.
The parking spots were revealed in a letter sent by the Department of Transportation on Wednesday, listing 19 new parking spots across Astoria and Long Island City as part of its car-share expansion.
More than 250 new curbside carshare parking spaces will be added citywide this week and the following week after what the DOT called a “successful” pilot that reduced car ownership. The department said the pilot also helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7 percent.
