Fatal Stabbing Of Astoria Man In 2020 Leads To Second Arrest: NYPD

ASTORIA, QUEENS — An Astoria man was arrested Monday nearly three years after a 37-year-old was found stabbed to death outside his home, police said.

Nathaniel Johnson, 57, was the second person to be arrested after the fatal stabbing of Romeo Bartley in 2020, following charges against Tangerina Wright-Johnson in May 2021, the NYPD said.

Bartley and a 34-year-old woman were quarreling with a man on June 7, 2020, about 6:30 a.m. on 8th Street near Astoria Boulevard when the man stabbed both of them, then ran off, according to authorities.

Bartley, 37, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died, police said.

EMS brought the woman to Mount Sinai Queens in stable condition, the NYPD said.

Johnson, from Astoria, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, while Wright-Johnson was arrested for murder, authorities said.
