Man Snatches 30-Year-Old Woman's Cell Phone At LIC Train Station: NYPD

A 30-year-old woman had her cell phone robbed by a man while she sat on a bench at the Long Island City station, police said.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — A 30-year-old woman had her cell phone robbed by a man while she sat on a bench at the 39th Avenue subway station Friday, police said.

The woman was waiting for the train on the Manhattan-bound N and W platform at the station in Long Island City about 10:15 p.m. when a man tried to rob her purse but failed, authorities said.

The man then snatched her cell phone from her hand before fleeing and getting on a Manhattan-bound 7 train at Queens Plaza, the NYPD said.

The robber is between the ages of 20 and 30, about 6 feet tall, and was seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and tan shorts, cops said.
