New Record Store Pops Up On Steinway Street
The opening comes after HiFi Records & Cafe, also on Steinway Street, closed its doors in late January.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — A new record store popped up on Steinway Street last weekend, filling up a musical gap left after a beloved store shuttered in January after eight years in business.
Pancake Records opened its doors on Saturday, July 22, at 20-77 Steinway St., featuring an art gallery, cake, and live music for local customers.
The shop will be run by the same owners of HiFi Records & Cafe, which was also on Steinway Street and closed its doors in January.

"Our neighborhood deserves its record shop back, and we will continue HiFi's legacy with Pancakes Records," the owners wrote on Instagram.
Pancake Records will be hosting musicians and DJs spinning records throughout some nights. On Friday, Pancake Records invited singer Curly Brown to perform at 6 p.m.
