SEE IT: Renegade Raccoon Scales Astoria Building

A renegade raccoon took social distancing to new heights last week by scaling an Astoria building.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A renegade raccoon took social distancing to new heights last week by scaling an Astoria building, according to video footage obtained by Patch.

The NYPD got a 911 call about the runaway raccoon the afternoon of April 10 at Steinway Street and 25th Avenue, a police spokesperson said.

A video from an Astoria resident who saw the raccoon shows someone on the building's fire escape trying to coax the furry fugitive into a blue recycling bin, though it wasn't immediately clear whether those efforts were successful.
