Woman Stabbed, Spat On At Astoria Subway Station: NYPD

The 23-year-old was attacked on the platform of the northbound 'N' line at the 39 Avenue and 31 Street station on Saturday, police said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A woman spat on and then attacked a straphanger in an Astoria train station last week, police said.

The straphanger — a 23-year-old woman — was on the platform of the northbound N line at the 39 Avenue and 31 Street station May 20 when a woman came up to her and started to fight about 10 a.m., NYPD officials said.

She spat on the straphanger's, grabbed her by the hair, and pulled her to the ground, authorities said. The attacker then punctured the woman's right shoulder with a "sharp object" before she fled, cops said.

Medics took the straphanger to Mount Sinai Queens in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD released images of the attacker, who is about 33 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall, according to police.
