1 Dead, 5 Hospitalized After Southern State Car Wreck: Police
One person was killed and 5 were hospitalized after 2 vehicles collided on the Southern State Parkway in Babylon on Sunday, police say.
BABYLON, NY — A car cash on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Babylon killed one person and hospitalized five others on Sunday around 10:30 p.m., according to the New York State Police.
Felix Jose Pantaleon Tavarez, 22, of Lindenhurst, was driving a white Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when he struck a gray Honda CRV driven by Reynaldo Collado, 49, of West Babylon, causing both vehicles to crash off the road and end up in "the tree line," police said.
Collado was pronounced deceased at the scene; his four passengers and Pantaleon Tarvarez were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
