Babylon Class of 2013 Salutatorian: Kerry Glenday

Babylon's number-two ranked senior will head to the University of Tampa this fall.

When the Class of 2013 walks across the field at Babylon Junior-Senior High School this Saturday morning, graduating senior Kerry Glenday will be among those speaking during the ceremony, earning her class' second-highest ranking as the Salutatorian.

"When I was named Salutatorian, I was very honored," she told Patch. "It was something I never expected but I was glad because I felt like all my hard work had paid off."

Glenday, who is very active in school activities as well as a standout on the girls' lacrosse and field hockey teams, pulled in a 102.9683 grade-point average this year.

She will attend the University of Tampa this fall, looking to major in business. While Florida will keep her a long way from home, Glenday said her favorite memories were right here in Babylon Village.

"My favorite classes were accounting and marketing, and this has influenced my decision to study business in college," she said. Glenday said her favorite memories, though, came during a sophomore year trip to Costa Rica with the science department.

"This trip was filled with amazing experiences and taught me so much about other cultures," she said.

With graduation less than a week away and a speech to give, Glenday said she's ready to take the next step.

"I am extremely nervous to give my speech at graduation, but I think it will be a great learning experience."
