BABYLON, NY —Trail races, downtown block parties and more: Check out our guide to Babylon Village happenings this week.

Block Party

On Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce and Babylon Restaurant Association will host another downtown "block party." Deer Park Avenue from Main Street to Park Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic so residents can dine, shop and mingle on the street. There will be live music, outdoor dining, vendors, food trucks and mini golf. A rain date is scheduled for August 12.

Dirty Sock Run

One of the Village's longest-running and most well-known races, the 10k starts at the Park Avenue tennis courts and follows trails to Southards Pond and Belmont Lake. Named for how dirty runners socks get in the trails, the Babylon Village Classic/ Dirty Sock Run is also part of the USATF Long Island Track and Field Cross Country Series and raises money for local food pantries. The race starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 8.
