Babylon's Valedictorian and Salutatorian Inspire Hope With Speeches
Class of 2013's top students remind graduates where they are coming from and where they will be going.
Babylon's Class of 2013 valedictorian and salutatorian gave moving speeches during Saturday's commencement ceremony, encouraging their friends to succeed and be happy as they move on from the high school.
Valedictorian Delaney Cassidy reminded students how lucky they were go to Babylon Junior-Senior High School, how talented the class as a whole was and to embrace the oncoming change.
"We've been through a lot these years, but it's time to move on," Cassidy said. "I ask you all to remember the unique circumstances we grew up in – the world outside of Babylon is simply not as forgiving, understanding or loving as this close-knit village."
Salutatorian Kerry Glenday spoke of the past 13 years most of the students had been together.
"We're a part of a great community that has shaped us into the individuals we are today," Glenday said. "Our grade as a whole has overcome countless obstacles, persevering through anything thrown our way."
