Beat The Heat In Babylon: Spray Parks, Swimming Pools And Beaches

BABYLON, NY — As temperatures peak, community members are looking for ways to cool down. Luckily, the Town of Babylon has a wide array of fun, family-friendly ways to cool off. Whether you're looking fun in the sun at the sea, in a pool or at a spray park, Babylon has you covered.

On Saturday, June 29, the town announced the official opening of its beaches, pools and spray parks that are open through September 2. The details are below.

BEACHES

According to town officials, entrance booths at Babylon's ocean beaches are open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty on weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Cedar Beach

Cedar Beach welcomes both residents and non-residents to enjoy its sandy shores and lively atmosphere throughout the summer, according to the town. The Salt Shack, located right on the beach, serves up food and live music throughout the summer.

Gilgo Beach

Gilgo Beach is another beautiful beach open to all visitors during the summer months. The Gilgo Beach Inn offers food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Overlook Beach

Exclusively accessible to Town residents only, Overlook Beach offers a more private, according to the town. The Overlook Beach Club offers an array of food options, shopping and live music on the beach.

SPRAY PARKS

Babylon has three locations that offer "state-of-the-art interactive spray parks" to keep kids occupied and cool all summer, according to officials. Two are bay beach facilities with spray parks that overlook the Great South Bay and one is located in a park facility.

Geiger Spray Park is open to both residents and non-residents daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It features an interactive spray park, restrooms, a playground and WiFi access.

Fee: Residents, $5, $20 for non-residents.

Tanner Spray Park is located on a bay beach and is open to Babylon residents daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests will find an interactive spray park, restrooms, playground, concession, picnic area with grills and WiFi access.

Fee: Resident beach permit.

Venetian Shores Spray Park is located on a bay beach and is open to Babylon residents daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests will find an interactive spray park, restrooms, playground, concession, picnic area with grills and WiFi access.

Pools:

The Town of Babylon has five pools that are open to Babylon Town Residents only.

They're open on weekends and holidays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekdays from noon to 8 p.m. through August 9. From August 10 to September 2, they're open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to the town, residents may purchase a seasonal pool plan or pay a daily entrance fee. Seasonal pool plans may be purchased at the Parks & Recreation Office located at 151 Phelps Lane, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Entrance fees at all Town Pools are $5 and free for children three and under.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. One adult is required per 10 children while entering all pool facilities as a group.
