Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Crash With Dodge Ram In Suffolk: PD

The woman was riding her bike when she was struck at an intersection, police say.

WEST BABYLON, NY — A woman riding her bicycle was seriously injured during a collision with a Dodge Ram in West Babylon on Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

Julia Karatnytsky, 22, of West Babylon, was riding her bicycle southbound on 11th Avenue when she was struck at the intersection by a 2004 Dodge Ram traveling east on Herzel Boulevard at 10:35 a.m., police said.

Karatnytsky suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Dodge driver, a 57-year-old West Babylon man, was not injured, police said. The Dodge was impounded for a safety check.
