Driver Of Stolen Range Rover Flees Fatal Southern State Crash
Police say the Range Rover's driver and a passenger were picked up by a white Jeep. A 75-year-old died in the Monday afternoon crash.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — The driver of a stolen luxury SUV fled the scene of a crash that killed a 75-year-old man on the Southern State Parkway Monday afternoon, State Police said.
According to police, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Land Rover Range Rover were traveling east on the Southern State Parkway, east of Exit 38, "operating erratically," when they attempted to pass in between two vehicles, a Toyota Prius and a Mitsubishi Outlander, causing a collision at about 3:17 p.m.
The Outlander went out control, struck a tree and overturned before coming to rest on the right shoulder, police said. Its driver, 75-year-old Richard A. Riggs, of Holbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two occupants of the Range Rover were witnessed being picked up by the white Jeep and fled the scene, police said. It was later determined the Range Rover was stolen.
The driver of the Prius, which struck a cement barrier, was not injured.
