Kite Festival Postposed Due To Inclement Weather On LI

The Town of Babylon's kite festival at Overlook Beach has been postponed by one day due to expected rain on Long Island.

BABYLON, NY — The Town of Babylon's Fifth Annual Kite Festival has been postponed by one day due to inclement weather, the town announced Wednesday.

The event was earlier expected to take place on Saturday, with rain moving into the area, event organizers decided to take advantage of the festival's rain date.

The festival is still expected to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Overlook Beach.

Since its inception in 2021, the kite festival has grown to be the largest regional kite festival on Long Island and draws gusts from the Tri-State area and beyond. According to organizers, the 2024 festival drew between 14,000 to 16,000 guests.

Hosted by the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce and the town, the event is free and will feature a wide array of entertainment including a professional kite flyer, candy drop, free flying, a bubble maker, food, vendors and music and a photo booth.
